Finally! It's time to pull together everything you've learned in order to plan for your pilot Connections Screener. In this section we will be helping you with each step by using your Connections Screener Manual. Here's what you will be doing:
- Develop your Connections Screener Timeline: complete this table and include the dates and persons responsible for each step in the timeline.
- Create your email that will be sent to the adults involved in your pilot screener (remember to include adults who are administering and also those who will be supporting your pilot, e.g., principal, counselors, team members who will be looking at the data). This tells individuals that the Connections Activity and screener are coming.
- Draft the language for your Connections Activity and determine who will be facilitating this activity with students. This is a very important activity because it provides students with the opportunity to think about what a "connection" is and to whom in their building they feel connected. It also helps create understanding for those who are administering the screener.
- Draft the memo (that will likely be done as an email) that will be sent to those actually administering the screener. This should be sent a couple of days before the screener will be administered and will contain more detailed information about the day of administration.
- Prepare your Connections Screener Administration Instructions. This is what the screener administrators will be reading to students on the day students take the survey.
Kim may make suggestions in your manual through the use of "comments." These are intended to help guide you through the process of your first administration. Also, remember that you can sign up for Office Hours if you would like help with any of the steps in this process.
The next activity in this section is a checklist where you can keep track of each step. When you are finished return to course homepage or move to the next activity.
